Apr. 1st, 2013 11:37 am Last night (in between my mother picking fights with my uncles over the future of the Catholic Church, girl's as altar servers, homeschooling, and possibly gay marriage which I walked away from because that's nothing I need to hear) someone mentioned some kind of Irish faerie that usually appeared in the form of a large black horse or a a black colt with chains around its neck. So far I'm thinking they were talking about a pooka, but I'm not sure. Does anyone else know anything about Irish faerie mythology, or at least enough to confirm/deny this? Seriously I am very angry at whoever started the Catholic-Church-of-the-future debate because DAMNIT I WOULD RATHER HEAR ABOUT IRISH FAERIES.
Even if the faerie they were talking about wasn't a pooka Pooka's are still super cool. Apparently opinion differs on whether they're malevolent/benevolent, and they usually appear in the form of some kind of black animal. Apparently when you trespass on faerie land or are poking around where you shouldn't, they appear in the form of a black horse, throw you on their back, and carry you over a mountain and dump you off on the other side. Or if there's someone who they particularly want to give a ride to, they'll stand outside their house and whinny. If they won't come out to ride, the pooka trashes their house and land. What a little shit.
