infiniteandsmall Fall schooling show this weekend!
...but it was really tiring as usual. Then I had to work six hours Monday and ride, and I had to work tonight too. I'll get around to answering comments and updating my fics soon, but for now I am still getting caught up on sleep.
I showed in novice this year, and it went better than I expected. I actually placed--fifth out of eight in Equitation and sixth in Pleasure, and I'm really surprised I placed in Pleasure at all considering that my horse took off on me in the canter and I had to break the gait to get him back to a good speed.
I was watching some videos my friend took and noticed what I needed to work on, and I had a really good lesson this Monday, so overall I was happy with my ride.
Plus the show itself is always really fun. I'm one of the people who stay all day for both days vs just coming to ride or for the fun stuff, and like my friend said--"We are all miserable. But we are miserable together!" On Saturday night after twelve hours everyone was so slaphappy and goofy and we had a huge Bohemian Rhapsody singalong and then went home and went to bed.
Fall shows also have a costume class and apple bobbing for the horses on lunch break. All of the barn kids can go grab a horse, and the first day of the show I got the little Shetland who always runs up and dunks his whole head in the bucket. He got the apple in 5 seconds and it was SO CUTE. Costume class was also super cute, all the ponies get dressed up in costume and everyone goes all out. Someone dressed one of the school ponies as a character from Duck Dynasty and it was adorable, and my instructor was like DUCK DYNASTY IS THE BEST and everyone was like OMG SHE WATCHES DUCK DYNASTY THIS IS THE BEST.
